Sanguine

Katie attended the school which hosted the annual Renaissance fair. She lived around the corner, and came by to show me her costume.

Briars
charcoal white pencil on black mat board
20 x 16"
These boulders, briars and grasses were in Pioneer Park in Nevada City, CA. They are an interesting study in textures.

Pastel
This was begun as a color study for an oil painting. I decided to finish it as a pastel painting. She is looking at a clay bear with floppy ears.

Queen Elizabeth I
Pastel
24 x 18"
This Renaissance queen had beautiful clothing, and well dressed attendants, and added a lot to a school's Renaissance Fair. I drew kid's portraits at the fair for several years, and we all had a ball.
Drawing Queen Elizabeth I
An attendant of Queen Elizabeth asked if I would draw her portrait, which I did during our lunch break.
Queen Elizabeth I
The queen admires her charcoal drawing. We all had a lot of fun with the kids at the Renaissance fair.
Orchid
pastel
I once raised orchids. I love their beautiful colors, textures and shapes. I've painted many of them, as it's the only way to keep them in bloom.
