"Anticipation" This figure is splashing through the surf, running towards someone she is glad to see, or just enjoying being there. The bronze is smooth. It gets texture from a three value patina. The rough base compliments the texture of the flesh .

"Anticipation Study" This is the first of the "Anticipation" figures. She is happily splashing through the water. She has a head with a flying ponytail, and outstretched arms.

"Anticipation"
This bronze is about 12" tall. It is an enlargement of the smaller "Happy to be Here," done without the head and arms. I felt they detracted from the torso. The patina has three values of pink on the figure.

Reclining figure done from life water-based clay |
|
One person remarked this figure looked like she could get up and walk.
He asked how is this possible, when it is done by an artist, but a life casting pulled from an actual person looks so dead.
This is a valid question, but I think he provided his own answer. An artist infuses their vitality into their work. I did a life casting of Nan (much to her dismay!), and it does
not look like her, but my bust, does. |

"Reclining Redhead" Bronze about 36" long Edition of 15 |

This piece has lots of flowing lines. The folds of the drapery point to the figure. The flowing hair and angle of the pillows add movement. The light patina on the body shows the form and texture, and makes the sculpture appear lighter. The base is my design to repeat the forms of the sculpture, and is made of walnut. You can see my painting background from my patinas. The chemical patinas have a vitality that a painted piece would lack. The various colors help delineate the forms. |

Back This is a direct carving (no model) made by starting at the backbone on the waist, then moving up, down and across the figure. The front is rough. |

Sconce This project began as an enlargement of an existing 12" sconce. I redesigned it as I enlarged it to make a more elegant and dramatic piece. Magic Sculpt worked very well for this project, as I could model with it, and refine it afterwards.

"Wedding Day" This is a bronze girl, with a light patina on the body, a whiter patina on the fabric, and a redder patina on the hair, which helps define each area. She is holding a piece of wedding dress fabric, as she designs her dress and contemplates her future. The figure was done from life, and the fabric was an actual piece of wedding dress material, with nice embroidered flowers. Click here to see more pictures of her.
